West 65
The geographic base in the Portuguese west served to limit the work territory, while at the same time referring to western society as a whole, with connotations to the American wild west. What were once assumed to be lasting structures, literally our buildings and infrastructures, and figuratively with the establishment of the fundamental right to housing, enshrined in Article 65 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic - is now collapsing before our eyes. eyes. Years of abandonment and neglect reflected in the territory's scars and deformities. Faced with this fragility, it intended to portray an emerging feeling of going to the precipice, where our extremely individualistic Western ideals have been eroding our community identity. The space and structures inscribed in each image are personified representations of the sadness of Western society. With our frailties society is left alone, abandoned, incomplete and rejected, while we continue to build structures that remain erect for generations to come. The lingering lines and darkness through the shadow denote an authoritative and imposed struggle between darkness and light. It is an invitation for all of us to get involved with the paradoxes of our existence, so that we can confront our emotions and embrace the complexity of the human experience. Embark on a transformative journey that invites us to consider the past, contemplate the present and, together create the future we aspire to.
